We feel parental involvement is an integral part of the work, the extent of which is decided on a case by case basis. We would take age and emotional development of the child/adolescent into account.
We would usually offer
parenting support sessions alongside the young person's therapy up to the age of 18 years. These sessions can be offered on a fortnightly or monthly basis. It provides parents with their own supportive space to share their thoughts and concerns, and can provide useful insight into the therapeutic work for the child/adolescent. These sessions can be offered in person or remotely.
For children under 5 years old, we would consider working with both the parent and child together.
